SUMMARY:Collective Rest: Our Ancestral Rest Inheritance w/ Cassandra Lam
DESCRIPTION:Collective Rest is a judgment-free space where you can reflect on your relationship to rest (or lack thereof)\, discover what you need to feel safe enough to slow down\, and practice rest in community. \nThe restlessness in our lives\, minds\, and bodies began long before we were born. In this experiential workshop\, we’ll examine how our ancestral rest inheritance – what our ancestors\, family\, and society passed down – has influenced our beliefs about rest. \nThrough reflection exercises\, community shares\, and an introduction to the cultural erasure of rest\, participants will reframe what they’ve learned about rest to heal shame and guilt. We’ll close with a guided somatic rest practice to receive much-needed messages from our lineage – the people\, places\, and beings we come from and belong to – for ancestral strength\, guidance\, and protection. By rooting into these relationships\, we remember that we are never walking our path or doing our work alone. \nThis workshop is open to folks who struggle to rest or slow down and to anyone who wants to take better care of their physical\, mental\, emotional\, and spiritual wellbeing through rest – fidgety skeptics\, beginners\, or experienced meditators alike! \nPlease bring a journal or piece of paper\, pen\, and any items you’d like to infuse with the energy of our rest practice. \nFor more information on Collective Rest\, please see Cassandra’s website and bio here. \nCost: $30Financial Aid Available- Please stop by the front desk\, call\, or email kelsey@ashevillecommunityyoga.org. PLEASE NOTE: We encourage pre-registration for all programming. Registering in advance guarantees your spot and helps the studio have adequate staffing. If fewer than 5 participants register the event may be canceled. \nRefund Policy: We understand that life happens and unforeseen circumstances come up. If life offers up an unexpected event and you need to withdraw from the workshop:  \n\nA full refund will be issued if you need to withdraw 4+ days before the workshop.\n\nIf you need to withdraw within 3 days or fewer\, no refund is provided.  \n\n\nPlease create a Mindbody account for each participant if registering more than 1 person. If you have any questions regarding registration\, please email Kelsey at  kelsey@ashevillecommunityyoga.org

SUMMARY:Integrative Breathwork for Self-Discovery with Margaret Kirschner & Eddie LeShure
DESCRIPTION:ACY will provide eye-coverings for this workshop\, but please bring your own if you would prefer. \nIntegrative Breathwork is a powerful adjunct to meditation and yoga\, effective for working with addiction\, trauma\, depression\, and anxiety. The process is very safe and simple\, combining accelerated breathing with evocative music in an eyes closed setting. You remain in complete control of your own process. \nIntegrative Breathwork Sessions • Expand your mind • Receive inner guidance • Create and strengthen new neural pathways \nEvocative music and dynamic breathing open the door to insights and inner guidance • Learn to trust yourself • Know that your answers are within • Gain confidence\, feel lighter • Loosen the negative grip of past trauma \nDynamic Breathing\, Expanded Mind Taking fuller breaths more rapidly\, accompanied by carefully selected music that guides your experience\, can nudge you into a non-ordinary state of consciousness. Your brain’s typical default mode relaxes. Most of us have an overactive\, self-critical “monkey mind\,” which slips out of the way as we continue to breathe faster\, more deeply\, and continuously. Soon\, inner wisdom reveals important insights which can shift a dysfunctional habitual thinking pattern\, providing a new way to look at ourselves and our relationship to the events of our life. \nSoftens the Grip of Past Conditioning For many people\, noticing\, accepting\, and expressing authentic feelings is a learned skill that requires practice. A common phrase is “What you resist persists.” it is natural to resist what is uncomfortable and lean\, instead\, towards avoiding that discomfort by suppressing emotions and stifling the ones that we perceive are not acceptable\, such as anger or sadness\, perhaps. Integrative breathwork recognizes the pervasive impact of personal and collective trauma and responds with tools that untangle it while also intending to avoid re-traumatization. It is an efficient way to clear conditioned resistance. \nIf you are pregnant\, have cardiovascular concerns\, severe hypertension (untreated high blood pressure)\, severe mental illness\, epilepsy or have had recent surgery\, infection\, illness or fever\, please do not sign up.  If you have asthma\, please bring your inhaler with you.  \nMargaret Kirschner is a Certified Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Therapist (E-RYT 500 C-IAYT)\, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)\, ACISTE Certified Mental Health Professional (ACMHP)\, Peer Support Specialist (CPSS)\, Breathwork Facilitator and Birth Doula. Margaret safely supports individuals in learning to listen to and trust their bodies with an attitude of curiosity and compassion. Says Margaret\, “My greatest joy is witnessing people reclaiming their lives through the simple and profound practices of yoga\, breathwork\, and mindfulness.” \nEddie LeShure is a Certified Yoga Instructor (RYT 200)\, Meditation Teacher\, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)\, Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS)\, Spiritual Emergence Coach ® (IMHU)\,and Breathwork Facilitator. Eddie’s personal journey took him deep into the throes of active addiction and incarceration on a drug arrest. His two years behind bars were mostly spent in the notorious Attica Prison where he survived a rebellion in 1971 that killed 43 inmates and employees. As a survivor of extreme trauma\, his personal healing and how he works with others has always been guided by deep understanding and compassion. As co-owner of A Mindful Emergence LLC\, he provides preparation\, facilitation and integration for those intentionally using plant medicines and other psychedelics. His primary passion is providing trauma-sensitive\, somatic mindfulness and self-compassion practices to support us effectively embracing our full range of thoughts\, feelings and physical sensations. \n \nFor more information on Margaret and Eddie\, please see their website here. \nCost: $30Financial Aid Available- Please stop by the front desk\, call\, or email kelsey@ashevillecommunityyoga.org.PLEASE NOTE: We encourage pre-registration for all programming.
