Falls are the #1 cause of unintentional death in adults 65 and
above and a leading cause of death for adults living with chronic
conditions such as heart disease.
This 6 week series works to improve balance, build muscle strength, flexibility
and mobility to enhance overall physical health, which leads to better functioning
in daily activities. Participation in the program may also result in better mental
health, reduced stress, improved memory and cognition, and increased
self-esteem.
The program is taught in a safe and supported group setting which will provide
participants the opportunity to feel engaged while having fun and making new
friends.
Diane Saccone, MS MT (ASACP) ERYT 500 spent the majority of her career in the field of Clinical Laboratory medicine changing careers after her move with her husband to Western North Carolina in 2005. She also developed the active older adult program at the YMCA of Western North Carolina where she served as the Director of Healthy Aging Initiatives and traveled through the Y of the USA as a subject matter expert on aging; lecturing and teaching evidence based falls prevention programs across the country.
Cost: $100 for entire course
(participants must register for entire series, no drop-in attendance)
