This workshop will provide clear and simple guidance on building and sustaining
your meditation practice. A consistent meditation practice helps cultivate
mindfulness as a way of being, developing our ability to focus the mind into the
present moment without judging our experience. When we practice meditation on a
regular basis, it enhances our ability to concentrate and develop greater awareness
to observe our thoughts, feelings, and emotions without being caught up with them.
Meditation offers insight into these habitual patterns of thinking and related
reactions, and cultivates the conditions for us to show up in life with greater ease
and clarity, rather than getting caught up in impulses and “emotional hijacking”
that are problematic. As a result, we can live more skillfully and deal more
gracefully with the ups and downs that life inevitably throws our way.
Eddie initiated his meditation practice in the early ’80s and has studied, practiced,
and participated in numerous retreats in Asia, Europe, and the U.S. with a wide
range of Eastern and Western meditation teachers, including H.H. Dalai Lama and
Thich Nhat Hanh He has lived in two Buddhist retreat centers and spent the
equivalent of two years in retreat setting. Though his roots have been in Buddhism, his style of teaching is secular and easily accessible to anyone
