Strong Core, Happy Low Back w/ Sonya Burres

It is estimated that up to 84 percent of adults have low back pain at some time in their lives. The good news means you are not alone! Lower back pain can happen for many different reasons, yet how we move, sleep, and sit can dramatically impact our backs' health. Often, proper balancing of the deep flexor muscles of the “core” with the extensor muscles of the lower back/pelvis can improve low back pain—and yoga is a wonderful medium for this to occur! This two-hour workshop will give you some tools and practices to alleviate/prevent and troubleshoot lower back pain.

Sonya Burres received her RYT-200hr teacher training in Los Angeles, CA from
Pure Flow Yoga in 2016. She has been teaching since and relocated to Asheville,
NC in January of 2022.


Sonya spent years as a gymnast, which is the basis for her attention to alignment
and form. This workshop is designed to incorporate finding the strength of your
core (not easy) while keeping your low back safe. This is a skill that is cultivated
over time, once you have the tools to do so.
