Moving Into Recovery w/ Alex White

Asheville Community Yoga 8 Brookdale Rd, Asheville, North Carolina, United States

Nurture the innate healing process of the mind and body as it returns to homeostasis after alcohol and drug dependency. We will delve into the intersections of addiction, trauma, and disordered eating and move through an asana and pranayama practice specifically designed to target the parts of the brain most affected by addiction. This will NOT be rooted in a 12 step approach; rather we will use the process of intuition, and allow the body to sit with what arises. This workshop will allow practitioners to set an intention and achieve a state of embodiment, thus illuminating the connection between negative self-talk and the habits it can lead to.

Asheville Community Yoga 8 Brookdale Rd, Asheville, North Carolina, United States

Yoga teaches us that we are each born whole, complete, and perfect!! Due to our many life experiences we tend to forget this state of wholeness, we forget who we truly are, and we get lost in our physical, mental, and emotional reactions to life. It is important for us to remember that the human nervous system simply cannot evolve at the rapid pace that society and technology has. Hopefully through what you learn in this workshop you can begin to extend yourself a bit more grace during natural moments of challenge and upset.

"So much pulls us off balance and away from our Self. It’s hard to think our way back into aligned presence since it’s thinking (Itself)((our mind’s protective patterns, conditioning, and memory)) that inadvertently knocks us off center. Dance offers a way to move through and around the reflexive mind to reconnect deep within. Our bodies are our elemental wisdom keepers. Conscious movement can tune us into our inner frequency.
