About Cacao:

Cacao has been used for thousands of years in the Mayan culture of South America and beyond for medicinal, spiritual and ceremonial purposes. The Mayans believe that cacao opens the emotional center of our body – our heart chakra. They believe the medicine works specifically by bringing us back to the feelings of love and interconnectedness. The Mayans believe that cacao helps us tune into our true and authentic selves and supports our ability to listen deep within to the callings of our heart where the truth of our power and wisdom are stored.

Cacao beans are the seeds of the cacao tree. The beans, or seeds, are a source of many antioxidants called flavonoids. It’s not clear how these might work in the body, but they appear to relax the blood vessels. This could lead to lower blood pressure, and reduce inflammation and blockage of blood vessels.

Cacao is a mild stimulant. The cacao usually affects people in a similar way as coffee might. Again, you do not need to consume the cacao to have a transformation experience during this gathering.

About Dance:

Dancing heals us.

There are MANY health benefits to dance. Here are just a few…

  • Improves agility and flexibility
  • Improves balance and coordination
  • Improves cardiovascular health
  • Improves muscle tone and strength
  • Maintains and builds bone strength
  • Aids in weight loss or maintenance
  • Improves memory and cognition
  • Improves mood
  • Reduces stress levels
  • Provides an opportunity to be in community
  • Boosts self-esteem

When we move our bodies freely to the rhythms of music, we often feel the sensations of liberation, connection and authenticity. Sometimes strong emotions like grief, anger and sadness will surface. Through dancing, we’re provided with an opportunity to feel these emotions. Other times we are greeted with more pleasant emotions such as gratitude, playfulness, and JOY! Dancing helps us get beyond the distractions and contractions of daily life that hold us back from being our best selves. It is truly medicine for the Soul!

About Awakening Love:

Women have gathered together in circles for generations to connect, awaken and explore their natural instinct to love and serve others. As the creators and caretakers of the world,we believe that it is essential for us to come together to open our hearts, lift each other up and hold each other close so we can continue our sacred work in these times. This work is for our: bodies, minds, spirits, communities and planet.

Awakening Love is a circle of women, a sisterhood, that began in 2017. Many of the women who join Awakening Love workshops and retreats have been around since the origins of this special collaboration between our hearts (Amber and Luna) and have grown together over the years.

However, we are an open and revolving circle, always welcoming more kindred hearts to join! We welcome all new and long time sisters into this sacred circle of love where we support one another in accessing connection, authenticity and empowerment. We invite you to join us!
