Falls are the #1 cause of unintentional death in adults 65 and above and a leading cause of death for adults living with chronic conditions such as heart disease.

This program is based on 8 forms of Tai Chi that were adapted to focus on falls prevention. There will be no time spent on the floor; all the exercises will be either sitting or standing. In each class, there will be seated warm ups and cool downs that focus on building lower and upper body strength. We will focus on how sleep, nutrition, stress, shoes and a sedentary lifestyle contribute to increased falls risk. With over 100 people through our program in the last 18 months we have seen a 91% decrease in falls risk.

The program was founded by the US Administration for Community Living, The Robert Woods Johnson Foundation and Centers for Disease and Control Prevention.

The program is taught in a safe and supported group setting which will provide participants the opportunity to feel engaged while having fun and making new friends.
