6 Week Balance Series for Falls Prevention w/ Diane Saccone
This 6 week series works to improve balance, build muscle strength, flexibility
and mobility to enhance overall physical health, which leads to better functioning
in daily activities. Participation in the program may also result in better mental
health, reduced stress, improved memory and cognition, and increased
self-esteem.
Please note: This date refers to the first of 6 sessions. This course will occur over 6 consecutive Mondays from June 24th- July 29th from 10 a.m.- 11:30 p.m.
This program is based on 8 forms of Tai Chi that were adapted to focus on falls prevention. There will be no time spent on the floor; all the exercises will be either sitting or standing. In each class, there will be seated warm ups and cool downs that focus on building lower and upper body strength. We will focus on how sleep, nutrition, stress, shoes and a sedentary lifestyle contribute to increased falls risk. With over 100 people through our program in the last 18 months we have seen a 91% decrease in falls risk.Â
The program was founded by the US Administration for Community Living, The Robert Woods Johnson Foundation and Centers for Disease and Control Prevention.
PLEASE NOTE:Â We encourage pre-registration for all programming. Registering in advance guarantees your spot and helps the studio have adequate staffing. If fewer than 5 participants register the event may be canceled.

A full refund will be issued if you need to withdraw 4+ days before the workshop.
