Ayurveda is a traditional system of medicine that is often equated as the sister science to yoga. Its name comes from the Sanskrit words “ayur,” meaning life, and “veda,” meaning knowledge or science. Ayurveda focuses on balancing the body’s energies (doshas) to maintain health and prevent illness.
According to the Ancient Indian Science of Ayurveda, the fundamental building blocks of life are the Five Great Elements: Earth – Water – Fire – Air – Ether/Space.Â
From them the three Doshas derive: Vata – Pitta – Kapha.
Sleep patterns can improve, and stress reduces, to bring life back to a sustainable balance.Â
