Sadhana is our daily spiritual/wellbeing practice.
The essence of this workshop is to fortify you with an ‘every day’ home practice combining the fundamentals of kundalini yoga and meditation: pranayama techniques (breath work), the bandhas ( body locks), spinal alignment, mudras and mantra. Come explore the art of discipline and leave with an “every day” tool to start your day.
Kundalini yoga, unlike strictly asana practices, focuses on harmonizing the nervous system with the endocrine system. When activated and aligned, these two systems give rise to our fully actualized self. A complete Kundalini practice includes a Kriya (a set of exercises with an intended result), breath, meditation and mantra.
- Cover a brief history of kundalini yoga: its roots, how it spread around the world, its utility as a daily maintenance practice for body, mind and spirit and then dive deeper into the art of the practice
- Explore the nuances of body locks/the bandhas (Maha bandha and its 3 components)
- Discuss the importance of proper spinal alignment
- Learn fundamental tools for effective pranayama
- Understand the benefits of opening the throat chakra through chanting
- Take a deep dive into various Kriyas: Sat Kriya, stretch pose, kriya for the adrenals and kidneys as well as Nabhi Kriya
- An initial information session on the above topics
- Execute a complete practice together including kriya and a meditation with interspersed reminders of proper practice
- Ample time for Questions and Answers
This workshop is for everyone! As a novice, it will dramatically shorten your learning curve through highlighting some of the fundamentals of the practice of kundalini yoga. As a seasoned practitioner, it will strengthen your practice through thoughtful cues and deeper examinations of the how and why of each kriya we practice.
