This is a workshop about pranayama, or breath control, the 4th limb of yoga as described by Patanjali.
Breath can be seen as a foundational medicine, and is truly the gateway between the unconscious and the conscious; the body and the spirit. Pranayama practices have huge potential to increase the quality of our daily lives in profound ways, and are a great way to prepare the body and mind for deeper meditation (the 7th of Patanjali’s limbs!).
In these 90 minutes, we will cover 5 essential types of breath practices that correlate with different archetypal energies: Calming, Balancing, Energizing, Clearing, and Attuning. We will spend plenty of time gaining understanding of each breath, as well as have an opportunity to meditate silently after each exercise in order to experience and absorb the unique effects of each practice.
You will leave with a deeper understanding of some classic and esoteric breath practices, and a practical pranayama toolkit that you can take with you everywhere you go!
