Yoga Beyond the Poses: Understanding the 8 Limbs w/ Dana Maria

Yoga is more than just a physical practice, come discover the ethical roots, breathwork, and meditative stillness that guide the yogic journey. This day long immersion is open to all levels and offers a deeper look into the 8 Limbs of Yoga.

“Yoga” is more than what we physically do on the mat. In fact, what many know as “yoga”- the asana- is just one part of eight.

This day-long immersion invites practitioners of all levels to explore the full spectrum of yoga through the lens of the 8 Limbs of Yoga, as outlined in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras.

More than just a physical practice, yoga offers a path of ethical living, inner clarity, and spiritual depth.

Blending philosophy, guided reflection, movement, breathwork, and meditation, this experiential workshop is designed to make ancient teachings accessible, embodied, and relevant to everyday life.

Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of how to live their yoga on and off the mat.

Workshop Goals:

  • Introduce and demystify the 8 Limbs of Yoga in an inclusive, digestible format
  • Offer practices to embody each limb through asana, breath, meditation, and reflection
  • Provide a supportive container for community connection and inner inquiry
  • Inspire participants to integrate yogic principles into daily life

Workshop Outline:

  • Exploration of Yamas & Niyamas through journaling and gentle movement
  • Embodied Asana & Pranayama practice
  • Guided practices for Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and discussion on Samadhi
  • Closing restorative sequence and integration circle
