A Multimodal Approach to Osteoporosis & Fracture Prevention
The benefits of yoga for preventing fractures are multi-faceted. Rather than focusing on just one aspect of fracture prevention, a yoga practice carefully tailored for osteoporosis covers all the different aspects of fracture prevention to create a balanced routine that addresses not just thinning bones but also the factors that predispose us to loss of mobility and increasing frailty with age.
The newest Osteoporosis research has proven that we can turn the challenge of thinning bones into a powerful catalyst for creating greater levels of health, well-being and energy as we get older.
The recipe for preventing osteoporosis-related fractures and frailty is also the recipe for successful aging;
the key to enjoying optimal health and well-being all through life.
In this workshop you will learn about cutting-edge developments in the field of osteoporosis prevention and treatment, learn exciting new findings on what it takes to prevent fractures and the specifics of how a yoga and exercise practice can address the main risk factors for osteoporotic fractures.
You will learn:
- How and why osteoporosis develops and the best ways to prevent it
- How to interpret DEXA scan numbers and the limitations of current diagnostic approaches
- Why preventing fractures and preventing frailty as we get older involves more than simply focusing on low bone mass, and how yoga helps
- The different ways yoga can help curb fracture risk and the best ways to practice yoga to address a range of risk factors for fractures
- Different types of strength-building and how to integrate them into your yoga practice
- How to target strength-building to prevent the most common types of fractures, including vertebral fractures, hip fractures, and more
- Key precautions for practicing yoga for osteoporosis and any other type of exercise
- The essential movements you must do every single day to keep your posture and spine strong to help prevent vertebral fractures.
