Youth & Family Programming
At Asheville Community Yoga we believe in the transformative power of yoga for all ages, especially for children. Our Youth & Family Programming is designed to provide young people with the tools they need to grow both physically and emotionally, fostering an environment of mindfulness, connection, and inner peace.
Why Yoga for Youth?
Yoga offers a wide array of benefits for children. It helps them develop strength and flexibility—not only in their bodies but also in their minds. Through playful and engaging yoga practices, children learn valuable self-regulation techniques, which help them navigate their emotions and find balance in a fast-paced world.
Our weekly youth yoga classes, for those ages 4-11, provide a supportive environment where children can tap into their inner knowing, build their self-esteem, and strengthen social connections. Yoga also helps kids improve their ability to focus and increases their body awareness, leading to a greater sense of mindfulness in all areas of their lives.
As Josie, our Youth & Family Program Coordinator, beautifully puts it:
“Children’s yoga is a portal into an imaginative world full of mindfulness, strength, and inner peace.”

Our Approach
We offer donation-based classes to make yoga accessible to all families in our community. Each class is thoughtfully designed to be fun, interactive, and educational, with age-appropriate activities that encourage children to explore yoga through games, stories, and creative movements. Whether it’s their first class or they’ve been practicing for a while, our instructors create a welcoming space where every child can thrive.
Join us at Asheville Community Yoga and watch your child grow stronger, more mindful, and more connected to themselves and the world around them.
An Important Note
Asheville Community Yoga youth classes are not therapeutic programs and are not appropriate choices for youth dealing with behavioral, motivational, or rehabilitation issues.
If you are unsure if your child would be suited for our youth classes, please reach out to our Youth and Family Director, Josie@AshevilleCommunityYoga.org, and we would be happy to communicate more about our program and what we can offer.

Our Current Youth & Family Offerings

Weekly Youth Classes
Our youth classes, designed for children ages 4-11, offer a dynamic blend of mindfulness and yoga that is both engaging and fun. In these classes, children will cultivate self-awareness, strengthen social connections, and explore the joy of movement, stretching, and creative play. They’ll learn to find calmness through breath, stillness, guided visualization, and relaxation techniques.
Each class is thoughtfully structured around a central theme, tailored to meet the unique energy, capabilities, and needs of the children. Whether through interactive activities or focused mindfulness, our classes create a supportive environment where children can thrive, build confidence, and develop important life skills.
