Jenny Bourdette

For as long as I can remember, my yoga mat has been like coming home to me. I first
discovered yoga in my 20s during a time when I was in great need of healing. I began practicing
with DVDs by Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee and Eric Schiffmann. I chose a path in healing arts and
was simultaneously introduced to an Ashtanga yoga studio in Doylestown, PA where I was
attending Shiatsu school. In 2007 I attended my first teacher training with David Swenson and I
was forever hooked. I have been passionate about using the tools of massage and bodywork
and yoga to assist others in connecting with their true natures and innate healing abilities ever
since. I then became certified as a Yoga Ed™ instructor a year later, which was a program
designed to teach yoga curriculum in schools, because I believe that many of the children of my
generation, myself included, could have benefited significantly from having mindfulness tools. I
ran an after school program at an elementary school for 2 years before moving to Oregon to
complete my massage training. Once my path led me to Asheville in 2010, I knew I found home
in these beautiful, healing mountains. I have since completed my 250-RYT at Asheville
Community Yoga, and am honored to teach chair yoga and youth yoga classes here. In my free
time you’ll find me frolicking in the woods with my boy, going on adventures, dancing, gardening
and beekeeping.
