Jim Castle

Jim’s purpose in teaching yoga is to help make yoga accessible and enjoyable for all. Honoring the
uniqueness of each person, he invites students to explore each pose in order to discover the form that
they find most useful. Jim guides students into the present moment by encouraging their awareness of
sensations that arise from movement and from the breath.

Jim has been teaching at Asheville Community Yoga since completing 250-hour yoga teacher training at
ACY in 2017. He completed 300 training hours in Advanced Yoga Studies at Asheville Yoga Center, and
studied Experiential Anatomy with Judith Lasater and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga with David Emerson, both
at Kripalu. In addition to teaching at ACY, Jim has taught weekly classes at the Asheville VA Hospital
(Charles George Medical Center) and at Asheville Parks and Recreation. Jim is an E-RYT 200, RYT 500
Yoga Alliance registered yoga teacher.

Prior to teaching yoga, Jim taught college-level geology and environmental courses, many of which
incorporated yoga during a break midway through each class. The enthusiasm of his college students
and his own passion for yoga inspired Jim to become a yoga teacher. He is deeply grateful for his
students, his teachers, and Asheville Community Yoga.

In his yoga classes Jim encourages being who you are, practicing with a sense of freedom and ease, and
trusting what arises in the moment of practice. All are welcome.
