Tammy Cervantes has been teaching yoga for over 20 years. She has lived in Cozumel, Mexico most of her life and is known as a pioneer of yoga there. She fell in love with Asheville immediately and has lived here – going back to her home in Cozumel often, since 2018. She has taught in diverse venues and communities both in the U.S. and Mexico. Her students have included professional athletes, performance artists, people with a range of disabilities and she has especially enjoyed giving back to whatever community she is in by making yoga available to anyone. She is especially committed to her work with people who suffer with addiction, and has been blessed in assisting in the organization of the Yoga + Meditation For Recovery Conference at Esalen Institute since it began. She delights in teaching teachers, and has lead a vast array of retreats and workshops. Tammy’s teaching is inspired by her deep desire to assist others in cultivating present-moment awareness: she leads by living the principles of facing life bravely, by acknowledging, honoring and integrating experiences both joyful and painful. She believes that sharing this with others is her most challenging, courageous and meaningful work in life.
