Please note: this is part of a 3-part series that focuses on healing through a Somatic Lens. Please see more about The Somatics of Trauma and The Somatics of Attachment for more.
Conflict is an inevitable part of the human experience—and for many of us, it feels overwhelming, threatening, or unsafe. We ache to be seen, heard, and connected, yet we avoid, shut down, or blow up in the face of relational strife.
Our responses to conflict live inside our bodies. So does our capacity for repair.
In this experiential workshop, we’ll explore conflict through a somatic lens, focusing on the nervous system as the key to both understanding our conflict patterns and growing our ability to skillfully repair.
Through a combination of education, self-inquiry, group discussion, and experiential somatic practice, we will:
- Understand the basics of the nervous system and why a somatic approach to conflict is essential
- Reflect on your personal survival instincts, early patterning, and individual responses to conflict
- Learn practical somatic techniques for recognizing activation, pausing, and working with different nervous system states (i.e., fight, flight, anxiety, shutdown)
- Learn somatic tools and communication-based strategies that support more effective self-regulation and relational repair
By the end of this workshop, you will:
- Have a foundational understanding of the nervous system and its relationship with conflict
- Recognize your own default conflict patterns (e.g., avoidance, reactivity, shutdown)
- Know simple, effective somatic tools for nervous system regulation
- Gain language to communicate internal experiences during conflict (e.g., naming feelings and sensations)
- Understand the role of projection, triggers, and personal responsibility in relational dynamics
- Learn foundational principles of rupture and repair, including how to move toward reconnection
- Experience how vulnerability and self-attunement support intimacy and safety in relationships.
Ultimately, you will leave with practical tools, increased self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of how to support yourself through conflict with greater presence, clarity, and care.
A testimonial from Meredith’s February 2026 workshop, The Somatics of Trauma: “Meredith really made this class so amazing. I did not know exactly what to expect going in, but the amount of information that was given was so digestible. Meredith presented it in a way that was easy to understand and apply to my own life. I really enjoyed that she presented agreements at the beginning of class that set the tone for listening and sharing so that everyone felt comfortable. I left the class feeling like I could move forward with a new confidence in myself and in my body.”
